…APC Osun Central candidate promises to present community demands to President Tinubu
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Osun Central Senatorial District, Kunle Rasheed Adegoke, SAN, popularly known as K-RAD, has promised to take the infrastructure concerns of Eko-Ende and neighbouring communities to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Adegoke made the commitment during a consultation visit to Eko-Ende, where he met with the Elende of Eko-Ende Land, Oba Abdulwaheed Babatunde Adekunle, FCA, Ayunawa IV.
The visit took the APC candidate to the area around the Eko-Ende Dam, located on the Otin River and serving communities around Eko-Ende, Ore, Ilie, Iresa Adu and Iresa Apa.
At the site, Oba Adekunle appealed to the Federal Government to construct a bridge across the dam, saying the project would provide a vital link between Eko-Ende and neighbouring communities.
The monarch also called for the rehabilitation of roads connecting the communities, as well as roads within the towns.
According to him, better road infrastructure would ease the movement of residents and farm produce while creating improved conditions for commercial activities in the area.
Oba Adekunle commended President Tinubu for what he described as the administration’s infrastructure interventions across Osun State. He, however, appealed to the President to give specific attention to the proposed Eko-Ende bridge.
The traditional ruler recalled that the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari had commenced work on the project but left it unfinished.
The abandoned bridge has previously been identified as an infrastructure concern for agrarian communities in the area. A 2025 report by The Guardian highlighted the condition of the bridge and its implications for communities around the Ikirun-Ogbomoso corridor.
Responding to the monarch, K-RAD assured him that the concerns would be conveyed to President Tinubu and the relevant authorities.
Adegoke said the completion of the bridge could improve access to Eko-Ende and surrounding communities, particularly by making it easier for farmers to move agricultural produce to markets.
He added that better connectivity could also support commercial activities and strengthen interaction among communities in the area.
For K-RAD, the concerns raised during the visit were part of the issues his ongoing consultations across Osun Central were designed to identify.
He said the consultations were intended to provide an opportunity to hear directly from traditional rulers, community leaders and residents about challenges requiring government attention.
The APC candidate assured residents that their requests would be communicated to the appropriate authorities.
He expressed optimism that the Federal Government would consider the community’s demands for the bridge and rehabilitation of the surrounding road network.
Adegoke had earlier described his approach to the Osun Central senatorial contest as one focused on accessible and responsive representation, with emphasis on connecting community needs to government intervention.
The Eko-Ende engagement is part of his wider consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections, as political candidates intensify grassroots contacts across Osun Central.
