…Party pledges commitment to 1.5 million-vote target, says Oyebamiji heads only its parliamentary campaign council

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s coordination of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign in the state, dismissing reports that it has established a separate presidential campaign committee.

The party said it had no intention of creating a parallel structure, noting that Adeleke had already been appointed Osun State Coordinator of the presidential campaign organisation inaugurated for Tinubu.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, the APC explained that the campaign committee headed by its 2026 governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, was set up for a different purpose.

According to the party, Oyebamiji remains the Director-General of its parliamentary campaign organisation, which is responsible for mobilising support for APC candidates contesting National Assembly and State House of Assembly seats.

The party questioned the need for a separate presidential campaign committee when Governor Adeleke had already been entrusted with coordinating efforts to secure more than 1.5 million votes for Tinubu in Osun.

Reiterating its position, the APC expressed appreciation to the governor for his willingness to lead the campaign across political divides. It assured him of the party’s readiness to work with him and other stakeholders towards the President’s re-election.

The party also cited the gathering held last Saturday at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, as evidence of its commitment to the emerging political alliance. The event brought together political leaders and stakeholders from different backgrounds in support of Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

While expressing confidence in the collaboration, the APC appealed to individuals it accused of attempting to sow discord within the coalition to desist from actions capable of creating unnecessary tension. It maintained that the partnership was making progress and should not be undermined by internal disagreements.

The statement further clarified that Oyebamiji was not heading a rival presidential campaign structure. Rather, the party said, he would continue to lead its parliamentary campaign organisation while also supporting efforts to promote Tinubu’s achievements and achieve the 1.5 million-vote target in Osun.

On concerns raised by some members of the party’s State Executive Committee over their exclusion from a campaign list circulated on social media on Tuesday, November 3, the APC acknowledged the complaints.

It noted that only four of the 35 State Exco members were reportedly included in the list, describing the reaction of the affected executives as an indication of their willingness to participate actively in the campaign activities organised under Oyebamiji’s leadership.

The statement was signed electronically by Mogaji Kola Olabisi, Osun State APC Director of Media and Information.

The party’s clarification comes amid efforts to consolidate support for Tinubu in Osun ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the APC maintaining that it is committed to working alongside Adeleke and other political stakeholders to deliver the proposed 1.5 million votes.
