…Influencers in Oyo, Lagos, Kwara promote Accord presidential candidate’s agenda

Support for Accord Party presidential candidate, Dr Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, is increasingly featuring in political conversations across Osun State, following Governor Ademola Adeleke’s decision to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The development has generated reactions among some radio callers and social media commentators, with several expressing support for Olawepo-Hashim and questioning the governor’s political alignment with the President.

Discussions on radio stations, including Diamond FM, Unique FM and King FM, have reportedly provided platforms for callers to express their views on the unfolding political situation and the future of the Accord Party in the state.

The debate has also gained visibility on social media, where videos circulating on TikTok and Facebook feature content creators identified as Almaruf, Doki Dorcas, The God and Unusual Challenges, among others, expressing support for Olawepo-Hashim’s presidential ambition.

In one of the videos, Doki Dorcas called on residents of Osun to support the Accord Party candidate ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Similarly, Almaruf questioned the decision of some political actors to support the All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that voters who supported Accord during the governorship election should remain consistent with their earlier political choice.

“We rejected APC by voting for Accord, and we won’t return to our vomit,” Almaruf said in the video.

The conversation is reportedly spreading beyond Osun, with social media influencers in Oyo, Lagos and Kwara also using their platforms to promote Olawepo-Hashim’s presidential agenda.

Supporters of the Accord candidate view these online activities as part of a broader effort to increase public awareness and strengthen his campaign presence across the Southwest.

The regional mobilisation drive also comes with an ambitious electoral target. Alhaji Abass Olaniyi, Southwest Coordinator of the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM), has declared that the group is targeting more than three million votes for Olawepo-Hashim across the Southwest in the 2027 general election.

According to reports, the movement expects Osun, Lagos and Oyo to make significant contributions to the target, while also seeking support in Ogun, Ondo and Ekiti states.

Meanwhile, Adeleke has publicly clarified that his alliance with political stakeholders across party lines is specifically aimed at supporting Tinubu’s re-election and does not extend to legislative elections.

The governor made the position clear on October 22, 2026, during the inauguration of the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

The political alignment has, however, attracted criticism from some supporters of Accord, particularly those who believe the party’s presidential ambition should remain distinct from the governor’s support for Tinubu.

Olawepo-Hashim has also maintained that Adeleke’s political position cannot determine how the people of Osun will vote in the presidential election. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on October 13, 2026, he argued that the governor could not compel residents to support a particular presidential candidate.

As political activities ahead of the 2027 general election continue to gather momentum, the competing mobilisation efforts have brought renewed attention to party loyalty, political alliances and the freedom of voters to make independent choices at the ballot box.
