…Movement vows to make Accord presidential candidate “the face of the New North” through grassroots mobilisation across seven states

The Hashim Progressive Movement (HPM) has set a target of at least six million votes for Accord Party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, across Nigeria’s North-West region in the 2027 general election.

Hon. Aminu Aminu, HPM coordinator and Accord Party’s senatorial candidate for Jigawa Central, announced the target, saying the movement was intensifying efforts to mobilise voters across the region’s seven states: Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara.

“We will prove he is our own in this region and the face of the New North,” Aminu said, expressing confidence in Hashim’s appeal and the movement’s ability to build grassroots support ahead of the election.

Describing the campaign as a homecoming, Aminu said the North-West needed leadership that understood the region’s challenges while advancing a national vision that included all Nigerians.

“For decades, the North has searched for a leader who understands its people and their challenges while offering a national vision for all Nigerians. We believe Dr Gbenga Hashim represents that possibility,” he said.

According to Aminu, HPM’s mobilisation strategy will focus on ward-by-ward and door-to-door campaigns, with youth and women organisers expected to play key roles in reaching voters and strengthening the party’s presence at the grassroots.

The movement also plans to coordinate its presidential campaign with Accord’s senatorial and House of Representatives candidates across the region. The approach, Aminu said, is intended to align campaign activities, expand community engagement and connect the party’s national message with local concerns.

“We are connecting presidential hope to grassroots reality,” he said.

Aminu added that the movement believed many voters were looking for practical responses to insecurity and economic hardship. He said Hashim had continued to advance policy proposals addressing issues affecting Nigerians.

The six-million-vote figure represents HPM’s declared electoral target for the North-West, rather than a confirmed projection of voter support. Achieving it would depend on the movement’s ability to translate its mobilisation plans into votes across the region’s seven states.

With the 2027 general election approaching, HPM says it intends to make the North-West a major pillar of Hashim’s presidential campaign, presenting him as a candidate capable of addressing regional concerns while pursuing a broader national agenda.
