President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, urging him to use the fresh mandate to unite the people and pursue greater development across the state.
President Tinubu disclosed that he spoke with Adeleke earlier on Sunday to personally congratulate him on his victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
In a congratulatory message, the President said Adeleke’s victory demonstrated the confidence placed in him by the people of Osun State.
Tinubu wished the governor success as he prepares to begin another four-year term, while stressing that the election should now give way to governance that benefits all residents, irrespective of how they voted.
“Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election,” the President said.
The President also commended the other contestants for their participation in the election, describing their conduct as an important contribution to Nigeria’s democratic development.
According to him, the participation of the various candidates helped deepen and enrich the country’s democratic culture, while the final result reflected the choice of the Osun electorate.
Tinubu further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for conducting what he described as a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner.
He said the outcome was a positive indication that democratic governance could continue to thrive in Nigeria.
The President’s message came a day after INEC declared Adeleke the winner of the Osun governorship election, securing another term in office.
Tinubu concluded his message with a call for the continued strengthening of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
“May our democracy continue to thrive and be strengthened. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The congratulatory message marks the beginning of a new phase for the Adeleke administration, with attention expected to shift from the highly contested election to governance, reconciliation and development across Osun State.
