The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly rebuked remarks made by a member of the House of Representatives, Bamidele Salam, describing his recent criticism of key party figures as uncharitable, ill-informed, and politically motivated.

In a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC characterized Salam who represents Ede North/Ede South, Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency—as a politician acting out of frustration and influenced by what it termed the “failing fortunes” of his political alignment.

The party referenced Salam’s appearance on Channels Television, where he reportedly made critical remarks about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC’s governorship candidate Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), and campaign Director-General Wole Oke.

Describing Salam’s comments as “reckless and unfounded,” the APC rejected his characterization of Oyebamiji as politically weak, arguing instead that the candidate has demonstrated competence, intellectual depth, and administrative capacity across both public and private sectors.

The statement further suggested that Salam’s posture reflects anxiety over the perceived decline in the electoral prospects of his preferred candidate, Ademola Adeleke, whom the APC accused of underperformance and lack of strategic direction.

According to the party, the appointment of Wole Oke as Director-General of the APC governorship campaign has intensified concerns within opposition ranks, positioning the APC as a formidable contender in the upcoming August 15, 2026 election.

The APC also dismissed concerns raised by Salam regarding the redeployment of the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, noting that such administrative decisions fall within the operational purview of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and are routine in nature.

While alluding to circulating allegations surrounding the redeployment, the party did not provide substantiated evidence but implied that the opposition’s reaction may be driven by underlying political calculations.

Drawing a contrast between leadership styles, the APC maintained that comparisons between President Tinubu and Governor Adeleke are fundamentally flawed, citing what it described as clear disparities in governance outcomes and policy execution.

The statement concluded with a strong assertion of confidence in the APC’s electoral prospects, emphasizing that no amount of criticism from opposition figures would alter what it described as an “inevitable victory” at the polls.
