The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement has issued a stern warning to the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, over alleged plans to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, vowing a political showdown if he proceeds.
The group, which backs the presidential ambition of Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim under the Accord Party, accused the governor of undermining emerging political alignments and warned that such a move would not go unchallenged.
Speaking on behalf of the movement, South-West Coordinator, Alhaji Abass Olaniyi, called on Adeleke to immediately reverse course and align with the Accord Party’s presidential project.
“Supporting another party’s candidate against Gbenga Hashim is a decision that will have consequences. We will not sit back and watch,” Olaniyi said.
In a direct warning, he added:
“If Governor Adeleke insists on backing President Tinubu over our candidate, we will meet him in the governorship election. It will be a political contest he cannot ignore.”
In a related development, Hashim himself had earlier taken a swipe at the governor’s position, describing comments suggesting the Accord Party would not field a presidential candidate as an overreach.
“The presidency of Nigeria is too big for anyone to allocate. It is in the hands of God and the Nigerian people,” Hashim said.
