Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved Tuesday, July 28, 2026, as a work-free day for public servants across Osun State to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the state’s governorship election.
The directive covers all categories of public sector employees, including workers in the core civil service, local government councils, tertiary institutions and other government establishments.
The approval was conveyed in a circular signed by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, who explained that the decision was taken to give workers sufficient time to fulfil their civic responsibility by collecting their voter cards before the forthcoming governorship election and other future electoral exercises.
According to the circular, personnel providing essential services, such as healthcare workers and security operatives, are exempt from the directive. However, they have been advised to make adequate internal arrangements that will enable them obtain their PVCs without disrupting critical public services.
Governor Adeleke urged all eligible voters, particularly public servants and workers in the informal sector, to visit the designated collection centres without delay and collect their voter cards.
He described the August governorship election as a defining moment for the future of Osun State, stressing that active participation in the electoral process remains a civic duty.
“I encourage all registered voters to reach all the collection points without delay. Your vote is your power. Your voter’s card is your licence to the ballot paper and, by extension, to the ballot box,” the governor said.
The governor reiterated that every eligible voter should take advantage of the ongoing PVC collection exercise, noting that widespread participation would strengthen democracy and ensure that citizens have a direct voice in determining the future of the state.
