…Osun East senator urges Tribes to put differences aside and work for national progress

Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, OFR, has felicitated with Nigerians at home and abroad as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary, urging citizens to strengthen national unity and work together towards a more prosperous Nigeria.

Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District and chairs the Senate Committee on Industries, made the call in an Independence Day message issued by his Head of Media and Public Enlightenment, Omole Oluwasegun Omo-Osodi.

Nigeria is celebrating its 66th year of independence on Thursday, October 1, 2026, a date the Federal Government has declared a public holiday.

In his message, the Ijesa-born senator urged Nigerians to look beyond ethnic, religious and regional differences and focus on issues that affect the collective wellbeing of the country.

He also appealed for continued support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda has the potential to deliver meaningful progress.

“Let us continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to actualize his policies and programmes. He has good intentions for Nigeria. We will get it right,” Fadahunsi said.

The senator said Nigeria’s diversity should be a source of strength rather than division, calling on citizens to see one another as brothers and sisters despite their different backgrounds.

He urged Nigerians to use the Independence anniversary as an opportunity to renew their commitment to the unity and development of the country.

“On this Independence Day, let us commit ourselves to Nigeria’s unity and collective improvement. Regardless of ethnic, religious, or regional differences, we must see each other as brothers and sisters,” he said.

Fadahunsi said the country’s attention should remain focused on practical challenges affecting ordinary Nigerians, including economic growth, job creation, food security, education, healthcare and the protection of lives and property.

“Together, we should focus on growing the economy, creating jobs, feeding the hungry, educating our youth, caring for the sick, and protecting our people from those who wish to harm us,” he added.

Fadahunsi also said, in his assessment, that the impact of the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms was becoming increasingly visible.

He similarly pointed to what he described as significant improvements in national security over the past three years.

The senator’s assessment comes against the backdrop of the Federal Government’s Independence Day message, in which President Tinubu said Nigeria was moving from economic reforms towards greater stability and prosperity.

Turning to the political process, Fadahunsi called on residents of Osun East Senatorial District to remain actively involved in elections.

He specifically urged constituents to come out in large numbers on January 16, 2027, to vote for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The senator said active participation in the democratic process remains important to determining the direction of governance at different levels.

Fadahunsi also asked Nigerians to remember the sacrifices made by the country’s founding fathers and recommit themselves to the principles of unity, peace, justice and tolerance.

“Happy Independence Day to all Nigerians. As we mark 66 years, let us remember the sacrifices of our founding fathers and recommit to their ideals of unity, peace, justice, and tolerance,” he said.

While acknowledging the challenges confronting the country, the senator expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to emerge stronger.

“Though challenges remain, with God’s grace, Nigeria will overcome and emerge stronger,” he added.

The statement was signed by Omole Oluwasegun Omo-Osodi, Head of Media and Public Enlightenment, on behalf of Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, OFR.

Fadahunsi is the senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, according to the National Assembly’s official profile.
