The Kano State Government has declared a five-day public holiday for all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Ministry of Education’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Misbahu Yakasai.
According to the statement, pupils and students in day schools will commence the Sallah holiday on Friday, May 22, 2026, while academic activities are expected to resume on Monday, June 1, 2026.
For boarding schools, students are to begin their break on Saturday, May 23, 2026, and return to their hostels on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
The ministry also urged parents and guardians of students in boarding schools to strictly comply with the schedule approved by the government.
It advised parents to pick up their children on the official closing date and ensure they return promptly on the designated resumption date to avoid any disruption to academic activities.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Education, Ali Makoda, extended his Eid-el-Kabir greetings to students, teachers, parents, and the wider education community, wishing them a peaceful and joyful celebration.
