…Says Accord Party’s Performance Is Also a Victory for Democracy
Presidential candidate of the Accord Party, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, describing the outcome of the governorship election as a victory for democracy and the people of the state.
Hashim, in a congratulatory message, commended Osun voters for exercising their civic rights and participating in the electoral process, saying the election once again demonstrated the power of citizens to determine who governs them through the ballot.
He said the outcome reinforced the principle that political authority ultimately derives from the people.
“This victory is, above all, a testament to the power of the people and the enduring strength of democracy. When citizens exercise their civic responsibility with courage and conviction, their voice can shape the direction of their state,” Hashim said.

The Accord presidential candidate also congratulated the party’s leaders, members and supporters who participated in the election, describing their commitment as part of the broader democratic gains recorded in Osun.
According to him, Accord’s participation in the contest demonstrated the importance of maintaining an open political environment where parties and candidates can compete freely and contribute to Nigeria’s democratic development.
Hashim said the party’s performance should be viewed not merely through the lens of electoral figures, but also in terms of its contribution to political competition and democratic engagement in the state.
Hashim urged Adeleke to regard his re-election as a renewed mandate to serve all residents of Osun State, regardless of their political affiliations or the candidates they supported during the election.
He stressed that the end of the election should mark the beginning of a new phase of governance focused on unity, development and inclusion.
“Elections end, but governance continues. The real responsibility now is to build an Osun where every citizen has a sense of belonging, where development reaches every community, young people have meaningful opportunities, and peace, justice and prosperity remain shared aspirations,” he said.
Hashim also called on political leaders, contestants and citizens to put the electoral contest behind them and work collectively for the progress of the state.
Addressing Adeleke directly, he said:
“To Governor Adeleke, I extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes for continued wisdom and success in the service of the people of Osun State.”
He equally congratulated Osun voters and the wider Accord family for their participation in the election.
“To the people of Osun, your voice has been heard. Your mandate has spoken. May this new chapter bring greater peace, progress and prosperity to your dear state,” Hashim added.
Hashim concluded by reaffirming his commitment to democratic renewal and efforts towards building what he described as a better Nigeria.
“Above all, we give glory to God,” he said.
The congratulatory message comes after the conclusion of the August 15, 2026 Osun governorship election, in which Adeleke secured another term in office.
