Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has paid glowing tribute to a former governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, describing him as a patriotic democrat whose legacy and contributions to Osun’s development remain profound and enduring.
The governor, who was represented at Prince Oyinlola’s birthday celebration by his Special Adviser, Hon. Kamarudeen Ajisafe, said the Okuku-born elder statesman exemplifies the ideals of democracy and good governance. He highlighted several landmark achievements recorded during Prince Oyinlola’s tenure, noting that they continue to shape the state’s developmental trajectory.
Governor Adeleke, who is currently outside the state on a strategic economic engagement, conveyed his administration’s appreciation for Prince Oyinlola’s contributions at local, national, and international levels. He noted that the former governor is widely regarded as a symbol of principled leadership, patriotic service, and institutional stability.
According to the governor, Prince Oyinlola has consistently remained a respected and calming voice in public affairs, promoting peaceful coexistence and national unity. He described him as a leader who, in moments of tension and conflict, prioritises dialogue, de-escalation, and consensus-building.
Governor Adeleke further acknowledged Prince Oyinlola’s role as an honest broker and peacemaker, whose counsel and support have been instrumental in advancing the current administration’s efforts to reposition Osun State for sustainable growth and good governance.
Reflecting on their long-standing relationship, the governor said Prince Oyinlola has earned his trust as an elder statesman, dependable adviser, and steadfast advocate of democratic values, adding that he represents a rare and invaluable asset to both Osun State and Nigeria.
He concluded by offering prayers for continued good health and longevity for the former governor, wishing him many more years of impactful service to the nation and sustained positive engagement in public life.
