In preparation for the 2025 Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election, the Hon REC Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke held a meeting with the members of staff of Inec Osun State, charging them to brace up for the task ahead.
Speaking at the meeting which had in attendance the Heads of Departments, Electoral Officers (EOs) and Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs) across the Thirty Local government Areas of the State, the Hon REC emphasized the importance of readiness, professionalism, and integrity among field officers who will play pivotal roles across the Registration Areas.
He stated that the CVR exercise will commence with an online pre-registration on August 18, 2025, followed by in-person registration from August 25, 2025, at two designated centres in each LGA and at the state office. The public will be able to register as first-time voters, update their PVC details, transfer among others.
The speech read in full: Let me use this medium to welcome you all to this robust engagement by the management of the commission in Osun state with the Electoral Officers, (EOs), Assistant Electoral Officers,(AEOs), the Head of Units at the state office, (HoUs) and other members of staff at the state office. This is another opportunity for us to discuss and evaluate ourselves and our activities in the face of the upcoming Continuous Voters Registration,(CVR) and the 2026 Governorship Election in Osun State.
This meeting is very crucial at this point in time because of the importance of all of you mentioned above to the upcoming electoral exercises. I hope you know as I know that bulk of these works are carried out at the local government offices which most of you here today are in charge of. Hence, the call to duty of all you to be steadfast and dutiful. There shall be no room for indolence and lackadaisical attitudes of any kind. The time to work is now: Are you all ready for the work.?
As a reminder, the online -registration commences on the 18 day of August, 2025. The in – person or physical registration shall follow on the 25th day of August, 2025 in all the 30 local government offices of INEC in Osun state including the state office. There shall be two registration Centres in all these places of registration. The following are what the eligible registrants can do during this period:
a. To register if he or she is 18yrs or more
b. To correct the PVC or update the pvc
c. To transfer to a new polling unit
d. To replace a lost or damaged pvc.
In view of the Herculean task of the foregoing, there is need for all of you to be ready for the task as the various challenges would start manifesting at the beginning of the exercise. Such include but not limited to:
a. The task of management of the crowd.
b. The task of ensuring needless assaults would not be encouraged in any manner
c. The task of not using the exercise for personal motives
d. The task of not allowing a politically motivated moves or agenda to thwart the exercise.
e. That task of not commercializing the exercise by demanding for cash or any kind of Favour from anyone. The commission shall make provisions for all your needs including your allowances. You must not perform below expectations. Best practice standard is expected from you. You must not let the commission down in any form. You must show competence, professionalism and trust reposed on you by the people of Osun State. The time to work is now : Are you ready?
However, I know that no matter the warnings and the volume of exhortations given, there are some unscrupulous and indisciplined ones among you who would be directed by the devil to scuttle this exercise, I appeal to such individuals or group of them to have a rethink. We shall not hesitate to prosecute whoever flouts the guidelines for the exercise as drawn by the commission. You must face your work and do not allow the evils ones whisper criminality into your hearing in any manner. This is not the time for you to use your selfish interest to disorganized the well structured arrangements made by the commission. This is not the time to use this exercise for favoritism and nepotism. Do not be careless in your statutory responsibilities as may be placed on you by your local government electoral officers.
I want to thank you most sincerely thus far. You are have shown readiness, seriousness and commitment to work. Let this continue. Do not be deterred in any manner. The commission shall definitely reward you for your good work. After the success of the entire process, the commission shall not only celebrate you but be proud of you all as dedicated staff of the commission. I am proud of you all. Let all work together for the success. No laziness this time. No redundancy this time. No lateness this time. No truancy this time. Watch out for your health this time. This is most needed now. Eat well this time. With all these, you would be physically fit for the 2025 continuous voter registration. I know you are all ready for theb work because the time is now.
