The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has assured Nigerians that it is working seriously with security agencies to prosecute any politician found guilty of vote buying in the 2023 general election.
In an interaction with the reporters Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi Alawa, The Head of Information and Communication Technology on Voters registration in Jigawa State, stated this on Friday that all hands are on deck for a free, fair and credible election.
He stated that vote buying is a very serious offense under the new Electoral Act and that anybody found guilty would be prosecuted.
He stated “We will ensure that there will be no more vote buying during the coming 2023 General election,”.
Alhaji Aliyu futher advised electorates not to allow themselves to be disenfranchised by selfish interest politicians, also report any incident to the security agencies.
Alawa reiterated the INEC is keen on conducting an election that is totally acceptable in all ramifications.
