The management of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has expelled nine students for various acts of misconduct, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to maintaining discipline, ethical conduct and academic integrity.
The decision followed the approval of recommendations submitted by the university’s Student Disciplinary Committee after thorough investigations into separate cases involving the affected students.
According to a statement issued by the university on Friday, June 26, 2026, the expelled students were found guilty of offences ranging from examination malpractice and theft to internet-related fraud, impersonation, possession of fraudulent documents and other violations of the institution’s code of conduct.
The university explained that each case was carefully reviewed, with the affected students given the opportunity to defend themselves before disciplinary measures were imposed in line with the institution’s regulations.
UNILORIN said the disciplinary action reflects its long-standing policy of upholding integrity and ensuring that students adhere to acceptable standards of behaviour throughout their academic pursuits.
The institution stressed that while it remains committed to providing a conducive environment for learning, it will not tolerate actions capable of undermining its reputation or compromising academic excellence.
Management urged students to remain law-abiding, embrace honesty and conduct themselves responsibly both on and off campus, warning that any breach of the university’s rules would continue to attract appropriate sanctions.
The university further assured parents, guardians and stakeholders that it would continue to enforce its disciplinary policies fairly and consistently in order to preserve the institution’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading centres of academic excellence.
The expulsion serves as another reminder of UNILORIN’s resolve to maintain high moral and academic standards while promoting a culture of discipline, accountability and responsible citizenship among its students.
