Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across the North Central Zone have formally endorsed former presidential candidate, Dr. Gbenga Hashim, ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing him as a consensus-builder with a demonstrated commitment to party renewal and the strengthening of Nigeria’s multiparty democracy.

The endorsement was announced on Wednesday at a meeting of the North Central PDP Chairmen’s Forum in Lafia, Nasarawa State. The leaders unanimously expressed what they termed their “unreserved support” for Dr. Hashim’s engagements and contributions to the party within the zone and nationally.

Speaking on behalf of the Forum, the Nasarawa State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Bako Ningi (Talban Mada), said the zone is firmly aligned with Dr. Hashim, citing his sustained backing of party structures across the North Central. According to the chairmen, his interventions have enabled state chapters to convene statutory executive council meetings and improve internal administration in line with constitutional provisions.

In a communiqué issued at the conclusion of the meeting, the Forum described Dr. Hashim as a visionary leader whose leadership has energized party structures across the zone and beyond, affirming that the North Central would stand with him “through thick and thin” in the collective effort to build a new Nigeria through democratic governance.

Chairmen in attendance included Alhaji Isa Bawa Adamu (Kwara), Hon. Aliyu Mohammed Kauran Borgu (Niger), Chief Raymond Dabo (Plateau), Hon. Ismaila Mohammed Dogara (Federal Capital Territory), and Rt. Hon. Ezekiel A. Adaji (Benue).

The meeting also reviewed the state of the party and prevailing political dynamics in the zone. In a five-point communiqué, the Forum reaffirmed its commitment to unity, cohesion, and internal harmony, emphasizing that a united PDP remains the most viable platform for reclaiming leadership and delivering effective governance.

The chairmen expressed confidence in the PDP’s continued grassroots appeal across the North Central and urged members to remain steadfast despite current challenges. They further assured both current and prospective aspirants of a level playing field within the party and encouraged sustained loyalty to its ideals.

The Forum commended party leaders, stakeholders, and members for their sacrifices and dedication to strengthening the PDP locally and nationally.

Zonal officers were elected during the session to coordinate activities across the North Central. Rt. Hon. Ezekiel A. Adaji (Ogaji K’Idoma) emerged as Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Bako Ningi (Talban Mada) as Secretary, and Hon. Ismaila Mohammed Dogara as Public Relations Officer.

The Forum congratulated the newly elected officers and expressed confidence in their capacity to reinforce party structures, expand inclusiveness, and strategically reposition the PDP for future electoral success. The meeting concluded with a renewed collective resolve to secure victory for the PDP in the 2027 general elections.
