…Raises Concerns Over Political Violence in Osun

The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council for the August 15, 2026 election in Osun State, Hon. Oluwole Oke, has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of actions he claims could compromise the safety and security of residents of the state.

Oke made the allegations during a world press conference held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the APC Campaign Office, Ileri Oluwa House, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.

The APC campaign chief linked his concerns to the political violence reportedly recorded at Aisu Junction on June 9, 2026, where gunshots were allegedly fired, resulting in casualties and heightening tension within the area.

Speaking at the briefing, APC chieftain Hon. Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as BANIK, alleged that Governor Adeleke was harbouring one Lekan Emir, whom he claimed had been declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force. According to BANIK, the suspect was being shielded from investigation and possible prosecution.

He called on the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the Aisu attack and ensure that all individuals connected to the incident are brought to justice, regardless of their political affiliations or social status.

BANIK further alleged that certain individuals within the state government were behind a series of politically motivated attacks targeting members of the opposition. He claimed that prominent APC figures, including former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, Hon. Oluwole Oke, and himself, had been identified as potential targets.

The APC chieftain also alleged that the attacks were politically motivated and linked them to preparations for the forthcoming governorship election. He claimed that the incidents reflected growing anxiety within the ruling camp over the electoral prospects of the APC and its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Governor Ademola Adeleke nor the Osun State Government had officially responded to the allegations. Similarly, security agencies had not issued any public statement regarding the specific claims raised during the press conference.
