In a strategic move to strengthen the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of its upcoming National Convention, former presidential candidate and prominent party leader, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has launched a reconciliation initiative across the North Central zone.

Renowned for his commitment to political reform and national unity, Hashim held consultations with major PDP stakeholders, including former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki and former Minister of Sports Hon. Damishi Sango, as part of a wider effort to rebuild trust and foster cohesion within the party.

At a meeting in his Abuja office, Hashim received Sango, who was accompanied by Mr. Sam Habu, a longtime aide to the late Chief Solomon Daushep Lar, the respected founding chairman of the PDP and one-time governor of the old Plateau State.

“We were both mentees of Chief Solomon Lar, the Emancipator,” Hashim shared. “Our conversation focused on reconciling party leaders in Plateau State and across the North Central region.”

Furthering his unification drive, Hashim met with Saraki over the weekend in what party insiders described as a “strategic dialogue” aimed at rebuilding the PDP’s organizational structure and reinforcing its national influence.

According to Hashim, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate for the greater good of the nation: “We agreed to work together to rebuild the PDP in the North Central and across Nigeria. To God be the Glory.”

Political analysts see Hashim’s renewed engagements as part of a broader effort to consolidate the PDP’s North Central base often regarded as the moral compass of the party. His outreach to key figures like Saraki and Sango positions him as a bridge-builder and consensus leader in the evolving landscape of opposition politics.

As the PDP seeks to regain momentum and redefine its strategy ahead of future elections, Gbenga Hashim’s reconciliation campaign is emerging as a significant rallying point for unity and renewal within the party.
