Comrade Omole Oluwasegun Omo-Osodi, founder of the Atunluse Asoludero Movement in Osun State, has strongly criticized a group known as the “Concerned Citizens of Osun,” calling it a faceless, politically-motivated outfit defending the controversial actions of the Amotekun Corps.
In a statement released on Saturday, Omole accused the group of launching baseless attacks on Senator Francis Fadahunsi over his recent comments on Amotekun. He described their defense of the security outfit as shameful and accused them of shielding criminal activities carried out under the guise of community policing.
He questioned the credibility of the group, asking how many of its members have been directly affected by the violence allegedly perpetrated by Amotekun operatives.
Omole stated, “Ordinarily, I would ignore such nameless groups, but I owe it to my people to condemn this growing culture of political bitterness.” He praised Senator Fadahunsi for his calm demeanor despite repeated provocations, accusing Governor Adeleke’s administration of misusing power and enabling thuggery through Amotekun.
Highlighting several violent incidents involving Amotekun personnel—including killings in Ido-Ayegunle, Ilesa, Ikire, and most recently Akinlalu—Omole painted a grim picture of the corps under its current leadership. He cited the unresolved deaths in the Esa-Oke traditional crisis as further evidence of state failure to maintain law and order.
Omole called on the Inspector General of Police to arrest the Osun Amotekun Commander, alleging the commander faces pending murder charges and continues to terrorize residents, especially opposition supporters.
Responding to claims by the Concerned Citizens group that “Amotekun is a symbol of community trust,” Omole retorted that only “their paymasters” could support what he described as “killers and thugs.”
While the group accused Senator Fadahunsi of undermining institutions, Omole countered that Fadahunsi is “an institution himself,” a respected leader whose voice resonates across Osun and Nigeria at large.
He concluded by urging the PDP-led state government to stop heightening political tensions in Osun with divisive tactics and abuse of power.
