The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on members of the public to disregard a misleading video clip currently circulating on social media, describing it as a deliberate distortion orchestrated by elements within the Accord Party.
The party noted that the video, which allegedly portrays its Osun West Senatorial aspirant, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, as expressing doubts about the APC’s electoral prospects, has been taken out of context and misrepresented to serve narrow political interests.
According to the APC, those behind the circulation of the clip have once again demonstrated a pattern of misinformation, attempting to create unnecessary tension within the political space. The party maintained that Dr. Ogunbiyi remains a respected and dependable leader, not only in Osun West but across the state, whose commitment to the party has never been in question.
“It is evident that this narrative is driven by mischief and desperation,” the statement read, adding that discerning observers would recognize the attempt as a failed strategy to mislead the public.
The APC emphasized that Dr. Ogunbiyi’s remarks at the meeting in question were innocently made and have been selectively edited to suggest a meaning entirely different from his actual position. The party further questioned why those circulating the clip deliberately ignored portions where he reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the APC and its collective goal of electoral victory.
The statement also highlighted Dr. Ogunbiyi’s public endorsement of the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), including his pledge to work collaboratively with stakeholders to secure success at the polls.
Reaffirming its position, the APC described Dr. Ogunbiyi as a loyal party stalwart who has consistently demonstrated dedication to the growth and stability of the party since aligning with its progressive agenda.
The party also dismissed the actions of those behind the video as politically motivated, noting that such efforts to create internal discord have gained no traction and will ultimately fail.
While reiterating its confidence in Dr. Ogunbiyi’s loyalty and leadership, the APC urged its members, supporters, and the general public to remain focused and not be distracted by what it described as baseless propaganda.
The statement concluded by advising the public to approach such content with caution, stressing that isolated excerpts of speeches often do not reflect the full intent or context of the message conveyed.
