…Raises Alarm over Post Election Attacks
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the just-concluded Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has called for calm among his supporters while expressing concern over alleged attacks on APC members and supporters following the election.
Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, in a statement dated August 17, 2026, commended members, leaders, supporters and volunteers of the APC across Osun State for their commitment, sacrifices and efforts throughout the election campaign.
He said he remained grateful to those who supported his candidacy and believed in the alternative vision and prosperity agenda presented to the people of the state during the campaign.
Although he acknowledged that his camp had hoped for a different electoral outcome, Oyebamiji said he respected the position of the electoral umpire and supported the decision of the APC to review the outcome of the election.
He expressed appreciation to voters who placed their confidence in his candidacy, as well as volunteers who contributed their time and energy to the campaign.
The APC candidate also commended party members and leaders across the state who mobilised support and worked throughout the electioneering period, saying their commitment remained deeply appreciated.
According to Oyebamiji, while the campaign and election had ended, the values and causes championed during the campaign remained relevant to the future of Osun State.
He therefore urged his supporters and party members to remain engaged and continue working towards what he described as effective, inclusive and rapid development of the state.
Oyebamiji called on members of the APC and those who supported his campaign to continue organising, participating in community affairs and remaining vigilant for the collective interest of Osun State.
The former commissioner, however, urged his supporters to remain calm and peaceful as they go about their daily activities in the post-election period.
He simultaneously raised concerns over what he described as a growing trend of hostility and violence against APC members and supporters.
Oyebamiji alleged that violent attacks witnessed against members of his party before the election had taken a new dimension within the 24 hours preceding his statement.
He consequently called on the Osun State Government, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to intervene urgently and stop what he described as an “ugly trend.”
The APC candidate reiterated his appreciation to voters, supporters, party members and leaders for their commitment, sacrifices and confidence throughout the campaign.
Oyebamiji said he remained proud of the campaign his team ran and grateful for the support he received from residents across the state.
He concluded by wishing the people of Osun State well and praying for the progress of the state and Nigeria.
“God bless you all. God bless Osun State. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
The statement was signed by Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, FCIB, MBA, and dated August 17, 2026.
ENTRUST REPORTERS reports that the statement came two days after the Osun State governorship election, as political parties and candidates began responding to the outcome of the poll and its aftermath.
