Former Kano State governor and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general elections, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has refuted claims making the rounds on social media that he has submitted a letter of intent to join a political party.

In a statement released on Thursday, Kwankwaso described the viral reports as unfounded and misleading. He maintained that he has not made any formal or informal approach to join any political platform in the country at this time.

He Noted in his Statement “Our attention has been drawn to some online reports suggesting that we have submitted a letter of intent to join a political party. We wish to state categorically that no such submission has been made by us to any political party,” the statement read.

Kwankwaso further urged Nigerians and his supporters across the country to disregard the rumours, stressing that such reports are often the handiwork of mischief-makers seeking to create confusion within the political space.

The former Defence Minister reiterated his commitment to keeping the public properly informed about any future political decisions through his recognized and official communication channels. According to him, no one should rely on unverified information from blogs or anonymous social media handles.

Political observers have noted that the viral reports may have been fueled by the ongoing realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, with many prominent figures being linked to various parties. Kwankwaso’s name has consistently surfaced in speculations, particularly due to his influence in Northern politics.

However, the politician has made it clear that any official moves or alliances he intends to pursue will be transparently communicated to Nigerians. “The general public is hereby advised to disregard these unfounded claims and remain guided by information released through our established and official communication channels,” he said.

With this clarification, Kwankwaso has once again distanced himself from the wave of political propaganda, leaving his next move in the Nigerian political arena open to speculation but firmly within his control.
