The Olowu of Owu-Kuta Kingdom, Oba (Dr) Adekunle Oyelude Makama (CON), has visited Radio Oroki in Osogbo, commending the station’s management and staff for promoting the identity, culture and heritage of Osogbo, Osun State and the Yoruba people.
The monarch was received by the proprietor of Radio Oroki, Mukhtar Ajelogbon, alongside members of staff during the visit on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
Speaking live on the station, Oba Oyelude expressed delight at the growth of Radio Oroki and the progress made by Ajelogbon in turning his vision into an established media platform.
The Olowu recalled that Ajelogbon had brought him into the project from its early stages, saying he had followed the journey and witnessed the determination with which the Radio Oroki idea was pursued.
He praised Ajelogbon for staying committed to his ambition of establishing a radio station that carries the name and identity of Osogbo, describing the achievement as evidence of what perseverance and determination can accomplish.
Oba Oyelude also expressed happiness with the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Laroye II, saying he was pleased that the traditional ruler had a son from Osogbo who was contributing to the development and positive image of the city.
The traditional ruler used the occasion to speak directly to Nigerian youths, urging them to remain committed to their dreams and aspirations despite the difficulties they may encounter along the way.
He stressed that young people should not allow temporary setbacks to make them abandon their ambitions, noting that perseverance can eventually turn present struggles into meaningful achievements.
In a major show of support for the station, the Olowu donated ₦1 million to Radio Oroki.
The monarch also prayed for the continued success of the station, its proprietor, Mukhtar Ajelogbon, and the entire workforce.
Responding, Ajelogbon expressed his appreciation to Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama for the visit, encouraging words and generous donation.
He assured the monarch that Radio Oroki would continue to pursue excellence while remaining committed to positively projecting Osogbo and Osun State.
Ajelogbon added that the station would continue to promote the culture, traditions and values of the people, while fulfilling its responsibility as a media platform dedicated to informing, engaging and positively representing its audience.
The visit further highlighted the growing role of indigenous media platforms in preserving local identity and giving greater visibility to the culture, history and people of Osogbo and the wider Yoruba community.
