The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Federal ministry of works has approved and flagged off Osogbo-Iwo road reconstruction on Thursday 6th of August, 2026
The Federal Government of Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu says his administration will enforce quality standards, transparency and value for money in all ongoing road projects across the country.
Tinubu made the pledge during the flag-off of the Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan and Gbongan–Osogbo road projects on Thursday in Osogbo.
The flag off was held at Aje international market, Osogbo Osun State where party members gathered to welcome Osun State Former Governor, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alh. Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola who led the delegation of APC Chieftains like Min. of Works, Sen. David Umahi from Abuja to Osun State Capital
Min. of Marine and Blue Economy, Alh. Gboyega Oyetola who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stated that the projects underscored his administration’s commitment to improving connectivity, unlocking economic opportunities and restoring confidence in public infrastructure.
“Every naira must count. Every milestone must be met, and every community must feel the benefit.
“To our contractors and engineers, deliver with excellence and speed. To our state and local partners, let us work as one team,” he said.
“Let me assure you, this administration will enforce quality standards, transparency and value for money.
He assured residents that the road would be constructed using Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) technology to guarantee durability and long-term service.
David Umahi, Min. of Works while delivering this speech acknowledged the influence of former Osun State Governor, Min. o Marine and Blue Economy on the Ilesa-Ibadan-Akure, Expresswy, Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan of 88km and newly flagged off Osogbo-Iwo of 44km and other road constructions ongoing across the country, all constructed with concrete pavement to justify loans taken by the Federal government.
He noted that the road infrastructure embarked upon has reduced kidnapping on the highways, stating that it has enhanced security in the country, he however urged Osun citizens and every Nigerians to vote for Bola Oyebamiji AMBO for Osun State Governor and Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president respectively while extending the same gesture to all All progressive Congress Candidates across Board.
Peculiar Ultimate Concern Managing Director, Engr. Bola Adeleke assured people of timely quality and durable project to be delivered within the 24 months stipulated time.
Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi (Emperor Telu I) in his earlier speech appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for remembering his town under his Renewed Hope Agenda, he noted that the tears he shed when he became King 13years ago has turned to joy.
The monarch then charged the every citizen of Osun including the monarchs to to reciprocate the gesture by making sure Bola Ahmed Tinubu returns for second term while they should accept his candidates in all elections, he said “We are going to support all the candidates of President Tinubu, he concluded by saying nobody should visit his Palace to campaign for anybody except Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
The Osun State APC Governorship Candidate Bola Oyebamiji AMBO while speaking expressed his happiness that the flag off the rod that had been approved by former governor Oyetola is taking place in former governor’s presence.
He cited the project as examples amongst other developmental projects his administration will offer people of Osun State if elected on August 15 Governorship Election, he said emphatically that he has become the choice of the people and the favourite to win the Guber Poll if conducted today.
The 44-kilometre Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road, which begins at Dele Yes Sir Roundabout in Osogbo and passes through Ara, Awo, Ede, Telemu, Iwo, Laagun before terminating in Ibadan, has deteriorated over the years despite being the shortest route linking Osogbo and Ibadan was awarded by federal government at a cost of N114,854,477,607.93 to Peculiar Concerns Limited with a completion period of 24 months.
The flag off events was witnessed by the APC Secretary General, Sen. Ajibola Bashir, Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi and Monday Okpebolo of Edo State, respectively.
