APC Tells Accord Party
The Governorship Election Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has called on the state chapter of the Accord Party to stop politicising the death of a young man in Ikire and allow security agencies to carry out a proper investigation into the incident.

In a statement issued by the council’s Media and Publicity Committee, the APC described as “reckless and insensitive” attempts to link members of the party to the killing of one Eluyera Kolade, said to be the son of an Accord Party women leader in Irewole Local Government Area.

According to th campaign council, the circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation by the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies, making any attempt to draw political conclusions premature and misleading.

The council accused the re-election campaign structure of Governor Ademola Adeleke of exploiting the tragedy for political gain, alleging that false narratives were being circulated to create unnecessary tension within the state.

While sympathising with the family of the deceased, the APC urged the police to conduct a thorough and unbiased investigation capable of identifying and prosecuting whoever may be responsible for the killing.

The statement further maintained that violence and political thuggery have never been part of the APC’s operational culture, insisting that allegations against its members were fabricated and politically motivated.

Speaking on the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), the council described him as a peaceful and responsible leader who does not believe in politics of violence or intimidation.

The APC also criticised the Accord Party for what it described as repeated attempts to discredit the opposition through unverified accusations. It referenced a recent allegation involving an alleged assassination plot against Mr. Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red, which the party claimed was dismissed following police findings.

The council further recalled the killing of Honourable Remi Abass, reinstated APC Chairman of Irewole Local Government Area, in Ikire, alleging that political violence had previously been directed at members of the party in the area.

Reaffirming its commitment to peaceful democratic engagement, the APC stated that no political ambition should be pursued at the expense of human lives. It therefore urged political actors across the state to avoid inflammatory rhetoric capable of undermining public peace and confidence ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The statement was signed by Mogaji Kola Olabisi, Co-Chairman (Print), Media and Publicity Committee, AMBO Governorship Election Campaign Council, Osogbo, Osun State.
