Birnin Kebbi witnessed heightened political activity over the weekend as multiple support groups endorsing the presidential aspiration of Dr. Gbenga Hashim converged in the state capital, scaling up grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Operating under diverse platforms, the groups unanimously affirmed Dr. Hashim as a proud son of Kebbi State and pledged overwhelming support for his ambition. They also called on Nigerians nationwide to align with what they described as a credible, inclusive, and unifying leadership proposition.

Addressing the gathering, representatives of the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement and allied organisations said the convergence was designed to consolidate existing support networks, deepen community-level engagement, and strengthen political coordination across Kebbi State and beyond.

The Kebbi State leader of the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement, Muhammad Mustapha Yauri, stated that the people of the state particularly those from Yauri Emirate regard it as a shared responsibility to stand solidly behind Dr. Hashim, who was born in Yauri, Kebbi State.

Yauri noted that Dr. Hashim’s late father hailed from Kebbi State, while his mother is of Yoruba descent, a heritage he said reflects national cohesion, unity, and inclusiveness values he described as critical to Nigeria’s democratic and developmental aspirations.

Also speaking, the Chief of Staff to Dr. Hashim, Mr. Kamaldeen Sani Adebayo, described the aspirant as a successful global entrepreneur with business interests spanning several countries. He emphasised that although Dr. Hashim has not held public office, he is motivated by a deep commitment to national service through transparent, accountable, and people-focused leadership.

National Coordinator of the movement, Abdulrazaq Hamzat, applauded supporters for their sustained dedication and growing momentum, describing Dr. Hashim as a worthy son and brother whose competence, global exposure, and leadership capacity position him to deliver transformative governance.

Hamzat added that Dr. Hashim’s international business experience, strategic insight, and global networks equip him to recalibrate Nigeria’s development path and drive sustainable economic growth, innovation, and shared prosperity.
Earlier, the Kebbi State Coordinator of the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement, Mustapha Yauri, assured supporters that mobilisation would be expanded across all local government areas and social segments of the state to deepen awareness and support for Dr. Hashim’s 2027 presidential bid.

In her remarks, a women leader at the event, Hajiya Hauwa, expressed confidence that a Gbenga Hashim administration would prioritise women’s welfare, particularly in rural communities, through inclusive governance frameworks, economic empowerment programmes, and enhanced access to opportunities.
Malam Garkuwa, a coordinator from the Peoples Democratic Party and former chairman of Shanga Local Government Area, commended Dr. Hashim’s leadership credentials and urged supporters to intensify grassroots engagement to ensure the realisation of his presidential ambition.

Similarly, Garba Mohammed, coordinator of another pro Hashim support group, represented by Engr. Lawal, thanked the Abuja-based delegation and reiterated assurances that a Gbenga Hashim presidency would deliver inclusive governance and decisively address the nation’s security challenges.

The event also featured goodwill messages from leaders of various support groups and enthusiastic stakeholders, who expressed strong confidence in Dr. Hashim’s vision and anticipation of his forthcoming visit to Kebbi State.

Political observers noted that Dr. Hashim’s multicultural heritage, private sector track record, national outlook, and expanding grassroots support across regions collectively position him as a formidable contender in the 2027 presidential race.
