Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, In a heartwarming moment that went viral on August 30th, 2025 transformed the life of a roadside puff-puff vendor during a solidarity rally in State Secretariat Osogbo. The rally was held to celebrate workers welfare policies of the Governor provided the backdrop for this extraordinary encounter.
The governor who rode in a bus among thousands of cheering public servants noticed a young woman selling puff-puff and signaled for her to come forward. He then purchased her entire stock, handing over ₦50,000 in cash.
ENTRUST REPORTERS Correspondent gathered that the vendor, taken by surprise, knelt in gratitude while the crowd erupted in cheers. Adeleke ensured the puff-puff was shared among the public before inviting the woman into his vehicle. There, in front of aides, he asked about her educational background a moment when she revealed she held a National Certificate of Education and inquired about her cooking skills. The governor then directed his aides to collect her contact details to offer her employment as a chef at the Osun Government House.
The incident became talk of the town that the woman a 30-year-old economics graduate had taken to selling puff-puff to survive after the loss of her mother and relied on support from friends and suppliers to sustain her business. Governor Adeleke’s intervention, she said, would prevent her from depending on street vending for survival and instead give her a stable position as a chef at the Government House.
The gesture was criticized by some social media users who expressed concerns that political theatrics like this distract from systemic needs like better infrastructure, reliable electricity, and improved livelihoods.
