The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has expressed deep concern over the recent wave of political violence across the state, describing the incidents as unfortunate and unacceptable in a democratic society.

In a personal statement issued on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Oyebamiji sympathised with residents who have suffered injuries, losses, and emotional trauma as a result of the disturbances recorded in different parts of the state.

“My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims, their families and loved ones during this difficult period,” he said, praying for the speedy recovery of those injured and comfort for affected families.

The APC candidate reiterated his commitment to democratic principles, stressing that elections should be decided through the ballot box rather than violence or intimidation.

“Democracy is a contest of ideas, vision, and service to the people. No political office, including that of governor, is worth the blood of any citizen. Human life remains sacred, and no electoral ambition should ever lead to violence,” Oyebamiji stated.

He expressed concern over reports of attacks on APC members and supporters in several communities across the state. According to him, party supporters were attacked in Owode-Ede, while vehicles belonging to his campaign organisation were allegedly vandalised.

Oyebamiji also cited reports from Ifeland, where APC members participating in what he described as a peaceful Walk-to-Live rally were reportedly attacked by hoodlums allegedly linked to the ruling government, leaving several participants injured.

He further alleged that APC supporters in Osogbo were subjected to physical assaults, while claims of gunshots during the incidents have also emerged. Although the extent of injuries and possible fatalities had yet to be independently verified, he maintained that every report of violence against citizens should be treated with utmost seriousness.

The APC flagbearer condemned political violence in all its forms, regardless of those responsible, warning that intimidation and lawlessness undermine the foundations of democracy.

According to him, the protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of any government. He noted that many residents now feel increasingly insecure amid what he described as a growing atmosphere of political intolerance and intimidation.

Looking ahead, Oyebamiji pledged that security and public safety would be among the top priorities of his administration if elected governor. He promised to create an environment where citizens can freely exercise their democratic rights without fear of harassment, threats, or violence.

He also vowed to maintain zero tolerance for criminality, insisting that his administration would uphold the rule of law and ensure equal treatment for all citizens regardless of political affiliation.

The APC candidate urged residents to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and committed to democratic values, cautioning against retaliatory actions despite ongoing provocations.
“Let us continue to place our faith in God and in the power of the ballot. Violence must never be allowed to define our politics,” he said.

Expressing optimism about the future of the state, Oyebamiji said Osun people would soon witness a new chapter of governance focused on security, welfare, prosperity, and peace.

“By the grace of God and with the support of the people, a truly progressive government will emerge on November 27 one that places the interests of Osun citizens above every other consideration,” he added.
He concluded by assuring residents that his administration would work to restore public confidence in government, strengthen democratic institutions, and return the state to a path of sustainable development and shared prosperity.

The statement was signed by Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), MBA, MPA, FCIB, APC Governorship Candidate for Osun State.
